38mm VS 50mm Carbon Wheels
We received many inquiries about how to choose the wheels profile, whether 38mm and 50mm carbon wheels.
So, how to choose them?
Under the same rims shape design, 38mm wheels is always lighter than 50mm. So 38mm should be faster, but 50mm can hold on the speed better. However, if you ride in strong wind, 50mm wheel is going to have greatly affected by the cross-wind. It would be hard to control your bike. In contrast, 38mm one seems to be more manageable and therefore applicable in more conditions. Therefore more bang for the buck in the long run.
By experience, 35-50mm rim depth provides the best balance between aerodynamic efficiency, lower weight and crosswind stability. Which one you would choose now?
