Nepest x SBC Azamino Store [Test Ride Event] Wonderful Pomp！

On November 16th and 17th, 2024, Nepest held Japan's first offline test ride event at the SBC Azamino store in Aoba-ku, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

At this event, Nepest's road bike wheel set "MAUI" series (35mm, 45mm, 50mm), which has undergone a complete exterior upgrade, was unveiled for the first time in Japan!

This test ride event provided an excellent opportunity to experience the comprehensive performance of the product. With its exquisite design achieved through painting and the ultra-lightweight specification of the carbon wheelset, participating cyclists were able to experience the lightness and efficiency of the "MAUI" wheelset.

Product Features

The MAUI wheelset has obtained UCI certification and features specifications such as Toray T800 carbon, a 21mm internal width U-shaped wide rim, paint-less finish with laser etched logos, carbon spokes, and ceramic bearing hubs. Its excellent performance is highly regarded not only in Japan but also in the European and American markets.

The 2:1 spoke pattern enhances lateral rigidity and optimizes tension balance between the drive side and non drive side, thereby increasing the wheel's strength and durability. In the assembly process, strict quality checks are conducted to ensure uniform tension, spoke placement, and overall reliability.

Test Ride Experience

At the test ride event, the MAUI wheel set's acceleration performance, cruising performance on flat ground and downhill, riding comfort due to lightweight, stability during hill climbing, resistance to crosswinds, and rigidity were highly praised by cyclists.

After each participant took a test ride of about one hour, they shared the following impressions:

• The initial acceleration is very light. The most significant feature is that it feels 'mild' overall.
• Despite being a full carbon wheel, it's not too stiff and feels like it moves forward just as much as you put in. It's easy to handle, even for someone not very skilled!
• Even with a 50mm height, the weight is only 1300g, so it can be used for hill climbing at all! The 45mm is even more versatile.

The carbon spokes equipped on the MAUI wheel set are lightweight, robust, and combine rigidity with aerodynamic performance. Participants were very satisfied with the outstanding performance of Nepest's carbon wheelset.

Professional cyclist and YouTuber [A] Project's Mikihito and HaW Cycling's Takumi attended the event.
